Joana Quental is graduated in Communication Design by FBAUP – Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto (Faculty of Arts of Oporto University). She has been mostly working in the field of illustration. In 1997 she was awarded a Honourable Mention in a National Competition of Illustration for Children, promoted by IBBY. She has also participated in several illustration exhibitions. She works since 1997 as an assistant teacher for the Department of Communication and Art of the Aveiro University, Portugal. Master’s degree in Multimedia (by F.B.A.U.P. /Faculty of Engineering of the Oporto University, Portugal), concluded in May 2001, under the subject “Interactive Ideograms – A study of the Icons in multimedia graphic interfaces”. She‘s got a scholarship of PRODEP to develop a doctorate programme and research on Illustration in Design.
